Martin Dupont

Martin Dupont is a French coldwave band, which was active from 1982 to 1987. At the beginning the band was composed of 3 members: Alain Seghir (vocal, bass and guitar), Brigitte Balian (vocal, bass and guitar) and Catherine Loy (vocal and synth). Later on Beverley Jane Crew (vocal, clarinet and sax) joined the band.

It is at the end of the punk movement that Martin Dupont started its activity. Even if it last only 5 years, it is still consider by a lot of people as cult band. They were able to be the first part of bands such as Siouxsie and the Banshees or The Lounge Lizards. They were also quite often compared to New Order.

Their first album called 'Just Because' was released in 1984. It was followed by 'Sleep is a Luxury' (1985), 'Inédits 81-83' (1985) and finally 'Hot Paradox' (1987).

Even if Martin Dupont split up a long time ago, a strong group of fans remain. Thus, in 2008 the American record label Minimal Wave decides to release a limited edition compilation. The following year the French record label Infrastition reissued the complete discography in CD format. [SOURCE: GOTH ME OUT
